People may feel the squeeze on their finances, but when it comes to their pets, they are prepared to spend, with the luxury pet market providing incredibly buoyant. Data from MoneySuperMarket revealed that pet owners in the UK spend almost £500 ($620) a year on luxury items for their pets, from designer clothing and luxury beds to toys and gourmet treats, with seven out of 10 willing to spend more on luxuries for their animals than for themselves.

There are over 3,500 species of snakes across the globe. One Regina enthusiast has managed to get his hands on one of the rarer reptiles.
Stephen Whitworth loves snakes, having kept the cold blooded companion at his home since the 1990’s.
“They learn to know who you are and to trust you and to interact with you and I certainly love my pets,” he told CTV News.
For Whitworth, it’s been a long term commitment.
“I’ve still got a snake that is turning 30 this fall,” he said.

LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) – A family’s pet lab mix was gunned down in their neighbor’s driveway over the Fourth of July weekend.
The 3-year-old lab mix named Dixie was shot and killed by a Lorain Police officer on July 2.
The shooting is still under investigation by the LPD Office of Professional Standards, but police released the bodycam footage on July 5 of the officer using force on the dog “in order for the Department to be fully transparent about the incident,” Acting Chief of Police Capt. A friendship struck years earlier between a Kelowna man and an abandoned dog has paved the way for a record-breaking donation that will change countless animal lives in the days to come.
Kelowna resident Paul Bilyk died in 2021, but his generous spirit, and lifelong love of animals, has ensured his legacy will carry on at the Kelowna branch of the BC SPCA.
On Wednesday, representatives from the local organization confirmed that Bilyk donated $910,764 to them. It’s one of the largest estate donations that the Kelowna branch has received in its 60-year history.
